Trust & Safety

Every host is verified before you ever see their listing.

Identity checks, business document review, category-specific licensing, and payouts held until after the event — verification that actually gates what a host can do, not a badge for show.

Every verification reviewed by our team, not auto-approved

Four layers, not one

What "verified" actually requires.

A single checkbox is easy to fake. We layer identity, business, and category-specific checks — and revisit them when documents expire.

Identity verification

Every host goes through Stripe's identity and liveness verification before they can receive a payout — real government ID, matched to a real face, not a form field.

Business & document review

Hosts submit business details and supporting documents — registration, insurance — which our team reviews by hand before a listing can go live, not an automated rubber stamp.

Category-specific licensing

Security and Catering listings — the two categories where an unlicensed provider is a real liability — require proof of guard licensing or a food-handler permit before publishing. Not optional.

Ongoing re-verification

Licenses and insurance certificates expire. When one does, the listing loses its verified status until an updated document is reviewed — verification isn't a one-time badge.

How verification works

From sign-up to a live, verified listing.

  1. 1

    Sign up as a host

Create an account and choose a category — venue, catering, photography, security, and more.

  2. 2

    Verify identity through Stripe

Government ID and a liveness check, handled by Stripe's own verification flow — the same standard used to move real money safely.

  3. 3

    Submit business details and documents

Business registration, insurance where relevant, and — for Security and Catering — the required license or permit.

  4. 4

    Our team reviews everything

A real person checks submitted documents against the listing's category requirements before approving — no listing is auto-verified.

  5. 5

Listing goes live, payouts stay protected

Once verified, the listing can publish — but the host still isn't paid until the event actually happens.

The strongest lever we have

Payouts wait until the event happens.

A client's payment is held by Eventa the moment they book. It only releases to the host after the event date has passed — not the instant a card is charged. If something goes wrong before then, there's still time and leverage to make it right.

Why this matters more than a badge

A checkmark can be faked. A held payout can't be.

Verification badges are only as good as what backs them. Ours are backed by three things that are genuinely hard to fake at once: a real identity check through Stripe, business documents a human reviews, and money that doesn't move to the host until the event is actually over. Together, that's what makes impersonation and no-shows expensive to attempt — not just against the rules.

Common questions

Trust & Safety, in detail.

After the event happens — not when a client pays at checkout. Funds are held by Eventa in the interim, which means a no-show host or a service that never materializes never gets a payout in the first place.

No. A listing cannot go live until the host's identity and, where required, business documents have cleared review.

Every uploaded photo is checked against existing listings for a match. A likely duplicate is flagged for our team to review before it becomes a pattern, not after.

Report it directly from the listing page, or reach our team through Contact us. Reports go to a human review queue, not a black hole.

No system can guarantee that — but verification, transparent pricing, and payout timing together make Eventa a meaningfully harder place to run a scam than an unmoderated listings board or a DM thread.
